ECPA to host E-Seminar on Google Book Search Copyright Settlement
On November 21, ECPA will host an informational 90-minute E-Seminar on the recent Google Book Search Copyright Settlement so that every participating publisher may learn how this landmark settlement affects them and their authors and informs the decisions they need to make in the days ahead. Recently called “the biggest book deal in U.S. publishing history,” the October 28 Google Settlement ended three years of litigation initiated by the Authors Guild and AAP in response to Google’s Library Project.  Every rightsholder will need to evaluate how this highly-negotiated settlement agreement affects them and determine whether to participate or opt out of the Google program in the 120-day timeframe.   The E-Seminar will be led by Brian Flagler, attorney with the Flagler Law Group and counsel for the ECPA Publishers Legal Hotline.  Participants need only a phone and internet access to participate in this session held from 11 am to 12:30 pm (EST). For more information or to register online visit ECPA's website at www.ecpa.org.

IVP Revisits The Shack
From book clubs to blogs, from churches to coffee houses, for many months now the talk has focused on one book, William P. Young´s The Shack. Praised by some as a wonderful representation of God´s truth, vilified by others as heretical and subversive, this publishing phenomenon has in all cases inspired its readers to ask or reconsider several weighty theological issues: How does God deal with evil in the world? How can we forgive those who have seriously wronged us? Is Young´s representation of the Trinity accurate, and what difference does belief in a "three personed" God make to us? InterVarsity Press offers a detailed explanation of these and other questions the novel raises in an upcoming book, Finding God in the Shack: Seeking Truth in a Story of Evil and Redemption by Roger E. Olson.
