Speaker Bio:
Fran Toolan, Founder and President of Quality Solutions, Inc.
Quality Solutions is a provider of software, systems integration, and consulting services to the book publishing industry. Since 1988, QSI has been a developer of editorial tracking, title management, promotion, and production systems for leading publishers like Simon & Schuster, Holtzbrinck, Harcourt, Sterling, and others. In 1998, Fran also founded another company, Eloquence, Inc. (now a division of QSI), specifically to tackle the issues of improving the quality of metadata sent from publishers to retailers, wholesalers, and data integrators. On behalf of its publishing clients, Eloquence is now one of the leading producers of ONIX transactions in the world, collecting images and bibliographic metadata from approximately 1,800 publishers, and pushing it out to almost 80 different receiving companies. Prior to founding Quality Solutions, Fran served for five years as a Partner with Computer Partners (now known as CSC Consulting), where he opened their New York City office and managed large royalty system development projects for several large publishers including Random House and William Morrow. Fran holds a BS in Computer Science from Rutgers University. He and his family reside in Newburyport, MA.
