Session Title: The Facts on Using Recycled Paper

The Association of American Publishers is in the process of creating a white paper based on the research they’ve done in regards to using recycled paper in book publishing. This is a growing area of concern among ECPA publishers and there is some misinformation in the marketplace.

Panel Member Bios:

Ed McCoyd
Ed McCoyd is an attorney and director of digital policy at the Association of American Publishers. He works on issues including the use of digital technologies to market, sell, and distribute publishers' products; the prevention of electronic piracy of books; the provision of accessible instructional materials to postsecondary students with disabilities; and environmental issues associated with the procurement of book paper.

Prior to joining AAP's staff, Ed served as director of legal services at the Authors Guild, providing licensing and copyright advice to published writers and advocating for authors' rights. Ed is also the author of the book To Live and Dream: The Incredible Story of George Foreman, available from New Street Publishing.

Todd Pollak
Todd Pollak is a Program Manager with the Green Press Initiative, where he works with publishers and their suppliers to minimize the environmental impacts of the book industry. Todd graduated from the University of Michigan's Program in the Environment where he focused largely on climate change, and techniques businesses can employ to minimize environmental impacts. Prior to working for the Green Press Initiative, Todd taught and coordinated environmental education programs at the Leslie Science and Nature Center in Ann Arbor, Michigan. Todd has also completed internships with several environmental non-profit organizations, including INFORM, Inc. which aims to identify and promote more sustainable business practices.

Tim Kettler
Tim Kettler has had his fingers on the pulse of the paper industry for over 15 years. His expertise includes; publishing papers, catalog and commercial printing and is a repeat President's Council award winner at xpedx. With his years of experience, he shares his knowledge with others in the industry through internal training programs and customer seminars. Tim and his wife Nancy are the proud parents of three hockey playing boys, and reside in a suburb of St. Paul, Minnesota.
